H.Russell of London, Bracket Clock.
This small ‘bracket’ or mantel clock has a substantial twin ‘fusee’ movement and is constructed of solid Cuban mahogany with brass inlays. The painted convex dial is signed H.Russell of London and most likely dates the clock to around 1880-1890. Blued steel hands held in place with a solid brass collet. The clock has an hourly strike on a very soft gong and has a half hour strike with just one blow of the gong for the half hour which is quite unusual. Gilded finials decorate the low arched top and ring handles decorate the sides. Standing on brass bun feet.
Understated and elegant.
